I am currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Gopalganj Science and Technology University (GSTU), Gopalganj. My academic foundation was established at Jahangirnagar University, where I earned both my B.S.S. (Honours) and M.S.S. in Government and Politics (securing 1st Class 2nd Position in M.S.S.), and later completed my Ph.D. in Government and Politics in December 2012 focusing on electoral management in post-colonial states.
I began my academic career in 2007 at Gono University, rising from Junior Lecturer to Senior Lecturer by 2017. I joined GSTU as an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Bangladesh Studies in November 2018, moved to the Department of Political Science in October 2020, and was promoted to Associate Professor in February 2022. Over the years, I have held major administrative leadership positions, including Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, Member of the Regent Board, Elected President of the Teacher's Council, and my second term as Chairman of the Department of Political Science. I also serve as Director of the Institute of Bangladesh Studies (IBS) and Director of the Centre for Social and Environmental Research (CSER) at GSTU.
Throughout my professional career, I have served as a Junior Consultant for the WASH Programme at UNICEF Bangladesh and led multiple research projects as Principal Investigator under UGC and ministry research grants. My institutional duties extend to supervising Ph.D. and graduate theses, evaluating M.S.S. dissertations, and editing academic journals such as Social Science Review.
To date, I have authored 7 published books and over 15 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, along with multiple ongoing and under-review international studies. My primary research interests center on political economy, civil-military relations, electoral management, post-colonialism, political sociology, local governance, and socio-political dynamics in Bangladesh.
